Big Bad Voodoo DaddyYou’ve had a day of education full of great take aways. Now it’s time to experience a unique behind-the-scenes look at Mardi Gras—at none other than Mardi Gras World—from the artists who bring the parade to life. And bring your dancing shoes because attendees will be celebrating to the live music from seven-man band, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. It’s a don’t-miss event.

About the Band: Since their arrival on the music scene in 1993 in a legendary residency at Los Angeles’ Brown Derby nightclub, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy’s irresistible live show and aggressive, musically perceptive approach has proven them over time to be the singular standout among the numerous bands that launched the Nineties swing revival. The seven-man group forged a massively successful fusion of classic American sounds from jazz, swing, Dixieland and big-band music, building their own songbook of original dance tunes, and, sixteen years later, BBVD is a veteran force that to this day adds new fans by the roomful every time they play.

Property Tours

Friday, June 25, 8 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.

Sign up for your choice of one of two unique tours of New Orleans' most innovative multifamily properties.

Tour 1

  • Bywater Art Lofts—Located in the heart of the historic Bywater neighborhood, the Bywater Art Lofts is a new 37-loft apartment community that was renovated in 2008 at the site of a dilapidated and blighted former garment factory. Come see the now light, airy, and creative lofts that are great live/work environment for artists.
  • Columbia Parc at the Bayou District—Steps away from New Orleans’ largest public park, this new mixed-income community is located at the site of a former public housing project destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. Columbia Parc marks the first step in the revitalization of the Bayou District, and offers state-of-the-art amenities and proximity to commercial, recreational and educational redevelopment.

Tour 2

  • Hidden Lake Apartments—Devastated by Hurricane Katrina, this complex was completely renovated in 2008, and today the gated community with a 12-acre lake rises once again above the New Orleans East submarket.
  • The Muses—The Muses was inspired by the great need for new housing units after hurricane Katrina ripped through the gulf coast. The property will provide housing to a wide range of incomes and will reserve 35% of the homes to households demonstrating the need for affordable housing and 65% of the units will be at market rate rents. The location right off the trolley line between Tulane University/Loyola  University and downtown should make it most attractive for both college students and professionals.

This is a ticketed event and is not included with a full conference registration. If you are interested in going, please register in advance. Tickets are $59. Sign up early as space is limited!
