Community Outreach at the 2010 NAA Education Conference & Exposition

STAIR (Start the Adventure in Reading)

Sponsored by: AT&T

NAA has partnered with STAIR (Start the Adventure in Reading) for the 2010 NAA Education Conference & Exposition. Conference attendees will have the opportunity to donate school supplies and conference bags to students in the STAIR program.

STAIR's goal is to provide a successful quality program to help second grade public school children in the Greater New Orleans area who are in danger of failing reading as well as literacy support to their families. Start the Adventure in Reading (STAIR) is excited to have reached our 25th anniversary, serving nearly 6,000 young students from the greater New Orleans area since 1985.

STAIR’s Mission has not changed and remains strong:

  • to increase the reading level of “skill deficient” children;
  • to increase each participant’s sense of self-worth and esteem by providing a program which expands each child’s knowledge of self and the greater world of reading;
  • to provide a caring environment thus promoting a greater and more meaningful dialogue among multi-ethnic volunteers, children, teachers and parents.

For more information on the STAIR program, please visit their Web site: http://www.stairnola.org/content/home.html. You may also donate directly to STAIR through their website.
