D5 - The Military Renter; an elusive $20 billion annual market, representing 1 million renters across the United States. Why are they unique? Desirable? And how do I tap into that market?
The United States Military represents the largest single group of people relocating annually. They move to and from anywhere on the planet. The Department of Defense (DOD) pays out $20 billion in annual housing allowances to over one million military families in the US and moves an average of 750,000 families each year. This session will educate attendees on how to understand local housing allowances, whether your rents are in the military member's 'sweet spot,' and how to get your properties visible to this elusive, yet large, segment of the rental market. The downturn in our economy has not changed the volume of annual military relocations. Attendees can expect to learn if there is a military population near their properties; if their rents are on par with the housing allowances paid to the military members in their area; how to determine what the local housing allowances are in their area; how to obtain visibility to relocating military members (and their families) when they may be coming from anywhere across the globe; what the average military member looks for in a rental unit; and how to make their property stand out among others of similar size and amenities to the military renter.
