This entry to my blog addresses maximizing the rate of return from community Utility Management Programs. In the early days of submetering and RUBS billing, most of our clients chose to have us responsible for the collection of their utility charges versus having payments tendered at the clubhouse. In discussing this with others in our industry, this remains the most widespread practice of their clients as well. “First Party Collections” is the legal term given to those of us who attempt to collect debts owed us on behalf of Owners and Management Companies.
Utility management programs vary widely, but providers who have kept pace with advances in technology offer notable time and money saving components designed for both Residents and Management. This entry of my blog will explain the use of integration and data transfers between a utility management firm and the owner/management company's “rent roll” package.
